What pride means to me as a bisexual business owner.

Little Lindsay was a vibe.

Pride has always been more than just a month to me—it’s a deeply personal, emotional, and an ongoing process of showing up as my full self. As a bisexual and queer person, being “out” hasn’t always come easily. There were years when I kept parts of myself hidden or minimized, not because I was ashamed, but because I didn’t know how—or if—it was safe to be visible. I always hoped that I would eventually come out, but it took time and lots of work on claiming my identity as valid.

That’s why, when we created The Happy Confection, I knew I wanted my identity to be woven into the DNA of our business. For me, it’s an ongoing affirmation—one that I wasn’t always able to give myself. Now, it’s a promise to never let myself disappear again.

Bisexual people often do disappear, even within LGBTQ+ spaces. Bi erasure is real. It’s the assumption that if I’m married to a man, I must be straight. It’s the casual suggestion that I’m “not queer enough” to belong. It’s the quiet internal questioning I’ve done over the years—asking myself whether I have a right to claim this identity when the world sees something different.

Being in a straight-presenting relationship means I also move through the world with a level of safety and privilege that others in the queer community are denied. And I don’t take that lightly, especially in today’s climate. The ACLU is currently tracking nearly 600 pieces of legislation meant to threaten our community’s rights and existence across the country. And this attack is more harshly impacting trans and queer people of color.

When we founded The Happy Confection, it was about more than making delicious cannabis-infused products. It was about building something that reflected who we are and what we care about—authenticity, joy, equity, and connection. From the beginning, I knew I wanted our business to take action and give back to causes that align with our values. That’s why we created Rainbow Parade, our newest product drop, designed not just to celebrate Pride, but to support it meaningfully.

Rainbow Parade is a rainbow sherbet flavored gem infused with THC, CBD, CBG and Blue Dream live resin terpenes and finished in a sugar mix with edible glitter. Perfect for parades, tea dances, and any time you want to approach an activity with a little more energy.

With Rainbow Parade, we’re committing to monetarily support Equality Connecticut (eqct.org), an incredible organization doing essential work for LGBTQ+ rights in our home state. They’re leading policy efforts, building community programs, and pushing for real change across Connecticut. And we’re proud to support them—not just during Pride Month, but all year long. Because allyship and activism don’t end when the calendar flips to July.

Being queer is not always loud. Sometimes it’s quiet. Sometimes it’s complicated. When it’s is safe to be out and proud, we take a step toward visibility, toward equity, and toward joy. I’m grateful to be doing so alongside a community, a team, and a business that believes in showing up, giving back, and celebrating every member of the community, exactly as they are.

Happy Pride. 🌈
